There’s something truly special about bringing Christmas to life in a beautiful venue like The Dunes Hotel.
We had the pleasure of transforming their space into a festive masterpiece filled with shimmering lights, lush balloon garlands, and elegant décor designed to make every guest feel the magic of the season.
But behind every perfect setup lies a day (or two!) of creative planning, careful coordination, and a touch of controlled chaos — and we love every minute of it.
Design Meets Theatre
With a background in theatre and set design, I approach every install like building a stage.
It’s not just about the balloons — it’s about atmosphere, flow, and storytelling.
For The Dunes, we used a timeless colour palette of gold, champagne, and winter white, enhanced with subtle sparkle and natural greenery.
The goal was luxury with warmth — festive but still in keeping with the hotel’s elegant surroundings.
We layered textures using metallic balloons, LED lighting, and soft organic shapes to create a sense of movement and magic throughout the space.
Behind the Scenes
The day started early (and with plenty of tea).
Our van was packed to the brim with garlands, LED lights, and all the extras that bring a design to life.
Once on-site, we mapped out the layout — checking ceiling heights, lighting angles, and guest flow. Every detail matters!
Each garland was assembled and styled on-site to fit perfectly, ensuring safe installation and flawless balance.
There were ladders, laughter, and the occasional balloon escapee… but by mid-afternoon, the transformation was complete.
The Finishing Touches
To tie it all together, we added:
LED light-up numbers for that instant “wow” moment
Delicate foliage and fairy lights for a soft glow
Photo zones with coordinated props for perfect festive selfies
The final result?
A space that felt magical — a perfect backdrop for Christmas parties, dinners, and festive celebrations throughout the season.
